A thought for food
Welcome to my blog – On the Foodpath. As the name implies it encompasses everything related to food.
It covers Food Fun – interesting and funny facts about food across India and across the world. To use a food terminology I would like to call it Starters.
It covers Food Fads – trends and traditions related to food.
It covers Food Fare – In other words, the Main Menu. It covers the iconic dishes of the world, iconic dishes of different states and regions of India.
It covers Food Facts – The science behind food, nutritional value and calorific value of different foods and medicinal value of various foods. The emphasis here would be on food which does not use preservatives, artificial flavours and colours.
It covers Food Fable – Origin and history of various foods and cuisines across Indian besides stories behind popular dishes.
It covers Food Festivals – Regional, community and country-oriented food festivals are held from time to time.
Food File – Over the years I have collected a number of unique cook books. This blog will cover some of the interesting books in my collection, besides other interesting and classic cookery books and new books on cookery and food as and when they are released from time to time.
Street food has gained prominence in recent times and cannot be ignored. They too are given a pride of place – from ‘footpath’ to ‘foodpath.’
Temple cuisines have emerged as a distinct category by itself. They are generally given a naivedyam (the food consumed as a divine offering). Sattvik food and diet and recipes also find a place.
Although this blog encompasses both vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare, it also gives due consideration to Vegan food which is becoming popular.
And last but not the least restaurant reviews covering the fine dining restaurants of the cities as well as highway and eateries and village joints.
In short, it is food for thought and thought for food. Bon Appetit
